Nature and Wellbeing
If you’re seeking an alternative environment to the therapy room, David provides options that are mutually agreeable.
Weather permitting; therapy sessions may be conducted in outdoor settings such as the beach, bushwalking, parks or walking by waterways. The choice for clients to engage in a suitable low-intensity activity, such as fishing, during relational therapy with David may also be an option.
Sensory Experience
Conducting therapy in nature allows the client to connect with the environment and benefit from sensory experience, sea, water, trees, colours, textures, shapes, scents and views.
Being exposed to natural external elements in therapy allows the client to become aware of other components not related to their dilemma. Therapy in Nature also allows the client to learn and practise the skill of mindfulness - a validated strategy for managing anxiety and reducing symptoms of Trauma.
Learning Mindfulness
Therapy in Nature may be ideal for clients who feel uncomfortable in enclosed rooms, and who are not self-conscious in public spaces, or for younger clients who prefer talking with someone in a setting that is less clinical and more natural.
Conducting therapy in nature can help clients who are overwhelmed by their emotions or struggling to connect. Suitability for this form of therapy will be established before each session.
Service Delivery
David offers this therapy in selected areas around Newcastle and Sydney. Special consideration will be made to accommodate your needs and preferences. (David will consider your location before confirming therapy in nature for the duration of the session.)
Therapy in Nature is a premium service with a surcharge to cover therapist costs.
